Flamboyant, percussive, and emotionally breathtaking, the art form known as flamenco is coming to the MSU Riley Center stage. Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana, led by the woman whom Dance Magazine has called "The Keeper of Flamenco," will present an electrifying showcase of sensuous music and dance. Flamenco arose hundreds of years ago in the Spanish region of Andalusia. Over the centuries it has incorporated influences from Spanish, Latin American, Arab, Jewish, and Roma (Gypsy) cultures. Santana, co-founder and artistic director of Flamenco Vivo, is passionately devoted to the company's mission of "building bridges between cultures using the universal spirit of flamenco."
